Occupational Therapy

Sparking Growth

How can we help you?

Occupational therapy is a type of healthcare that addresses the physical, emotional, and social challenges individuals face, which may interfere with their ability to engage in activities that are important to them. These everyday tasks can include self-care, such as dressing and eating; moving around the house; being productive at work or school; participating in community life; or engaging in leisure activities like sports, gardening, or social gatherings. The goal of occupational therapy is to help individuals overcome these obstacles and gain independence in their daily lives.

Neurospark OT is dedicated to helping children and adults, aged 18 months and older, navigate their environments and develop the skills necessary to participate in various activities. Through tailored interventions, we support individuals in learning how to use different tools and strategies that improve their ability to safely and efficiently perform daily tasks, promoting greater independence and quality of life.

We offer a range of services including occupational therapy, assessment, treatment, and consultation. Our support is available to individuals or groups seeking help with a variety of concerns, such as self-regulation, sensory processing, picky eating, gross and fine motor skills, handwriting (printing), self-help skills, and executive/cognitive functions. Our goal is to provide personalized care that empowers individuals to thrive in all aspects of life.

Our Clinic

Our clinic space is designed to allow the environment to change to specifically meet an individuals self regulation, sensory processing or developmental skill needs.

Components can be moved, added or removed, utilizing multiple positions for swings, mats, ropes and other equipment. This allows clients to feel regulated, successful and calm, promoting the nervous systems to create new or strengthen existing connections.

Clients and caregivers can try a wide variety of equipment to determine what is suitable for home or school use for the individual. Potentially giving clients new skills to use outside of therapy time.

Sometimes coming to a new place is too overwhelming for a client. Neurospark can work with caregivers and clients to meet them where they are at, which may mean home visits, school visits or community visits.

Meet Elizabeth

Elizabeth has over 15 years experience as an occupational therapist. She has worked in hospitals, schools, preschools, day-cares, clinics, swimming pools, ski hills, group homes and individual homes. Working in so many different environments means that Elizabeth has a strong understanding of the day to day functional demands that are asked of clients across many settings.

She has over 10 years experience working with individuals under the age of 18 with Autism, ADHD, developmental delays and a variety of genetic diagnosis. Working across the age span gives Elizabeth a wider perspective on building skills and implications of current function on a client’s future both short and long term.

Elizabeth uses a regulation first perspective when working with clients. This means something different for each client depending on their age, skill level, goals, interests and other factors affecting their day. For young clients therapy is fun and playful and doesn’t always feel like therapy. For older clients this means developing a therapeutic relationship based on transparency, choice, and honouring their current capabilities.

Continuing Education

A life long learner, Elizabeth has a passion education both formal and informal. She regularly attends continuing education courses and searches for tools and programs to help her clients. Over time informally her clients have taught her countless clinical lessons.

Areas of continuing education include, but are not limited to:
